Bronny James was one of the most anticipated players heading into the NBA Summer League, but just one game into his professional career, James will be taking some time off.
James will not play in Sunday’s California Classic game against the Warriors because of a knee injury. James played in the California Classic opener in San Francisco, scoring four points in 22 minutes.
James, the son of Lakers star LeBron James, entered the offseason with much hype despite appearing in 25 games and averaging 4.8 points as a freshman at USC in 2023-24.

The Lakers will be without James for the team’s second Summer League game, as he is reportedly sidelined with a knee injury. According to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell,.
James reportedly has some swelling in his left knee but will be able to play again in Wednesday’s final game of the California Classic.
Despite being a second-round draft pick, James received a major commitment from the Lakers in the form of a four-year guaranteed contract, a rare move that guaranteed him a spot in the pros rather than starting his rookie year in the G League.
