Russian forces fired missiles at Vilnyansk, a town outside the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, on Saturday, killing seven people, including two children, and wounding 18, authorities said. Town Square Park on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. (Bill Ross/ADN) Some of you may remember when Anchorage's Town Square Park was dominated by old buildings, including a Burger King. Forty years ago, our community shared a vision to create a park in the heart of our city, a clean, safe open space where residents could enjoy and gather. At the time, we were learning lessons from other towns around the country that weren't thinking about the future of growing cities like ours. With the support of the community, then-Mayor Tony Knowles acquired the land, demolished the old buildings and created…

FILE – Workers repaint a Ten Commandments sign on Election Day along Interstate 71 near Chenoweth, Ohio, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Louisiana has become the first state to require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms under a bill recently signed by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry. These commandments are not representative of every culture…
