ATLANTA, Georgia – No. 9 Duke (33-15, 14-11 ACC) takes on Georgia Tech (29-18, 13-12 ACC) in the ACC opener Friday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. ) lost 11-8. series in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Blue Devils took the lead in the top of the first inning, trailing the Yellow Jackets by four runs. Alex Stone hit a three-run home run to take the lead, then Wallace Clark hit an RBI hit to center field, and Logan Bravo scored from second base to make it 4-0.
The Yellow Jackets hit a two-run home run of their own into the bottom half of the box to make it 4-2. In the top of the third inning, Zack Morris hit an RBI homer to center field, scoring Chase Krewson from third base to make it 5-2.
Georgia Tech continued to chip away at the lead and took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Duke continued to fight back in the final two frames, with Stone's single to left field giving Morris a triple and cutting the Jackets' lead to 9-8.

Alex Stone hit a three-run home run to take the lead in the top of the first inning. Wallace Clark scored in the middle and scored Logan Bravo from second to make it 4-0. Georgia Tech cut the lead in half with a 4-2 run in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the third inning, Zack Morris singled to center field, scoring Chase Krewson from third base to make it 5-2. In the bottom of the third inning, the Yellow Jackets took a 6-5 lead. Bravo hit a two-run home run to left field in the top of the fourth inning, 7-6. Georgia Tech tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Yellow Jackets took an 8-7 lead. Georgia Tech increased its lead to 9-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the top of the eighth inning, Stone hit a single to left field, scoring Morris from third base, 9-for-8. The Yellow Jackets increased their lead to 11-8 in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Notes: Senior Alex Stone hit his 36th career three-run home run in the top of the first inning. This outburst earned him the sole No. 4 spot in his Duke career. Stone went 3-for-4 at bat with two runs scored and four RBIs. Freshman Chase Krewson extended his hitting streak to six games, finishing the day with two hits and one RBI for four at bats. Graduate Ben Miller finished the day with 2 hits for 5 at bats, his 22nd multi-hit game of the season. Graduate Logan Bravo finished the day 2-for-1 with two runs batted in, two runs batted in (a two-run homer), and three walks. Junior Ryan Higgins was a spot starter on Friday, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two runs.
