India's technology job market is booming, with demand for specific skill sets surging. More than two-thirds (66%) of all technical jobs are in five industries: development (35%), ERP (12%), testing (7%), design and engineering (7%), and networking (5%). The rise of cloud computing is being driven by its scalability and cost-efficiency, leading to an explosion of jobs for cloud architects, engineers, and security specialists who can manage and optimize cloud infrastructure and applications.
Cybersecurity is also a hot topic, with companies moving their operations and data to the cloud. This requires robust cybersecurity measures, which require skilled personnel to identify vulnerabilities, implement security protocols, and manage incident response plans. Recent cybersecurity legislation further emphasizes the need for cybersecurity professionals by addressing the evolving digital environment and encouraging the development of skilled professionals in this field.
Finally, data analytics is experiencing explosive growth as organizations leverage data to gain insights. This will increase the demand for data analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence specialists.
“Looking ahead, we expect IT talent recruitment to increase due to the expansion of global capability centers and stabilization of the global economy. Key technological advances such as big data and AI are expected to drive this growth. Although challenges remain, the IT industry is doing well,” said Kapil Joshi, Deputy CEO, Quess IT Staffing.
In addition to core technical skills, this report also highlights promising trends in the recruitment of technical talent across various industries. Finance (BFSI 19%), automotive (15%), consulting (9%), and product development (6%) are all seeing significant increases in their need for technical talent.
Manufacturing is an interesting example. Traditional sectors such as automotive and aerospace continue to perform well, but expansion into areas such as semiconductors, electronics and the electrical industry is also evident. This diversification reflects the industry's adoption of technology and focus on innovation in product development and supply chain management.
The retail sector is another area where technology transformation is occurring. The rise of e-commerce and omnichannel retail is driving a surge in demand for technical talent skilled in data analytics, AI, and digital marketing. These professionals leverage technology to optimize operations, personalize customer interactions, gain consumer insights, and ensure a competitive edge in this dynamic environment.

A staggering 68% of adoption requests come through this region, followed by the West (16%), North (8%) and East (2%). This dominance is also reflected in the commercial real estate market, with Bangalore, NCR and Hyderabad occupying the top positions, together accounting for 65% of office space leasing activity.
