MACKINAC ISLAND — Mackinac Island is the only place to be named the No. 1 “Best Summer Destination” in USA Today's annual readers' poll of the top 10.
This is the second year in a row that Michigan has received national recognition from USA Today.
“Winning the top award two years in a row speaks to how special a place Mackinac Island is to so many people,” said Mackinac Island Mayor Margaret Dowd. “We want to thank the island community for their unwavering commitment to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience and extend our thanks to all those near and far who voted for Mackinac Island.”
USA Today describes the island as a place where you can “take a horse-drawn carriage ride through car-free roads, watch (and sample) fudge being made, and tour historic Fort Mackinac.” It is expressed as.
As many Michiganders already know, the island is also home to Mackinac Island State Park, where visitors can often be seen hiking, biking, kayaking, and sightseeing. USA Today singles out the beauty of His Rock, especially the limestone arches, as an attraction that draws tourists.
“We're incredibly proud that Mackinac Island has earned the title of No. 1 summer destination for the second year in a row,” said Tim High, executive director of the Mackinac Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We're incredibly grateful to the island community for their votes and to the travel experts and readers of USA Today 10 Best for once again recognizing the island. We look forward to welcoming guests this summer to experience all the island has to offer.”
Mackinac Island was also voted #1 Best Island in the Continental United States in 2022 by Travel + Leisure Magazine readers. Mackinac Island has other awards from Condé Nast Traveler, TripAdvisor, and Expedia.
