ORLANDO, Fla. — Roads will be busy this Memorial Day holiday period.
AAA predicted that 2.5 million Floridians will travel more than 50 miles during this period.

If you're driving or getting ready to leave, gas prices in Florida average about $3.51.
That's 7 cents cheaper than last week.

David Rivera served in the military along with his family.
“Gas prices are pretty reasonable and driving is pretty calm,” Rivera said.
Austin Mannin is currently based out of the Miami base.

“I'm more concerned about the fact that there aren't many police officers on the roads,” he said. “On the left you see speeders, on the right you see people trying to pass. Everybody's going at a different speed limit, that's my only concern.”
Mannin will be returning to Miami, where he worked for about two years.
AAA reports that Florida has three popular weekend getaway destinations.

“It's a good day for everybody who served,” Mannin said. “For me, and for me personally, this is a day for those who gave their lives. It's all about them.”
More than 40 million people are expected to travel across the country.
