Hundreds of border force officers at Heathrow Airport will begin a three-day strike on Friday in a dispute over rostering.
The Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) announced that more than 500 of its members working in passport control at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 are taking action to protest against the introduction of new rostering.
The strike will be followed by three weeks of non-strike labor action, including a ban on overtime.
The union said it expected disruption over the weekend as families return to the UK after the mid-term break.
A Home Office spokesman said: “Border Force has robust plans to minimise disruption and maintain safety and security at the border.”
“We advise passengers to check the latest advice from their operating companies before travelling.”
Meanwhile, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on the M25, bringing traffic to a halt between junction 6 Godstone and junction 5.
