Who has the golden hands? Three South Florida tech investors made it onto the Midas List in new rankings released this week.
This year's ranking includes two from Miami-Dade County and one from Palm Beach County, a highly anticipated annual ranking based on venture capitalist achievements, proving that the Magic City continues to be a significant global technology hub.
South Florida people on the Midas List
â–ª Keith Rabois, managing director at Khosla Ventures, ranked 26th.
â–ª Reshma Sohoni, managing partner at European seed fund Seedcamp, ranked 89th.
Both recently moved into the 305, with Sohoni famously residing in Jimmy Butler's former Pinecrest mansion, which she purchased in 2021.
â–ª Scott Sandell, a Palm Beach County resident who serves as executive chairman and chief information officer for Silicon Valley-based New Enterprise Associates, ranked 64th.
Ranking Information
â–ª The Top 100 rankings, now in its 23rd year, are compiled by Forbes magazine and True Bridge Capital Partners, a leading venture capital fund investor.
â–ª Alfred Lin, a partner at Silicon Valley's Sequoia Capital, topped the list. Mickey Malka, founder of Ribbit Capital, also in Silicon Valley, came in second, and Neil Shen of Hong Kong's Hongshan came in third.
â–ª The Bay Area continues to have the most investors on the list, taking 54th place out of 100. That's three times more than second-place China and six times more than third-place New York.
Consecutive representative history
Keith Rabois, managing director at Khosla Ventures, ranked 26th on the 2024 Midas List, the highest ranking for a South Florida resident.
Miami tech enthusiasts have reason to be optimistic: Until Keith Rabois moved to 305 in 2021, the region had no representative on the list.
He was a partner at Peter Thiel's Founders Fund at the time, but stayed in Miami and rejoined Khosla Ventures in January this year. A member of the “PayPal Mafia,” he was named to Forbes' latest ranking for his investment in fintech startup Ramp.
A perennial member of the Midas list, LaBois has been on the list every year for the four years he's lived in Miami, proving he's not just here for the tropical drinks.

Ahead of Boston and Northern Virginia
As of 2022, South Florida ranks fifth by region in venture capitalist numbers on the Midas List. It ranks behind New York and London and China. But as of 2022, the region also surpasses two much better-known tech hubs, Boston and Northern Virginia.
Given Miami's history of rise and fall, stability may be something to celebrate.
But that's not all: In the Midas Seed List 2024, a ranking of the top 25 seed-stage investors in the world launched by Forbes and Trubridge in 2022, three of the top 10 are from Miami-Dade County, with Bring Capital's Benjamin Ling at No. 5, Soma Capital's Anil Ranadive at No. 8 and Boldstart Ventures' Ed Sim at No. 10.
Seed investments are typically the earliest stage of investment and occur when a company is still in the idea stage.
How to Create a Midas List
â–ª The Midas List: is compiled using a combination of public data and submissions from hundreds of investment partners across dozens of companies. To qualify, investors are ranked by those who have invested in companies that have gone public in the past five years, been acquired for at least $200 million, or seen their private valuation at least double to more than $400 million during the same period.
â–ª Midas Seed List: Investors must have invested in companies that have gone public or been acquired for at least $50 million, or have a private valuation of more than $100 million. Eligible deals must have tripled in valuation since the venture capitalist's initial investment.
