Former ITN royal editor Tim Ewart said the flag ceremony would be a “pivotal” milestone in Kate's recovery. “We're expecting her to be on the balcony at Buckingham Palace but it will be the first time we've seen her officially and I think it's fair to say people here are still quite concerned about her health,” Ewart told Sky News Australia.
“Kate should have attended…”
Ewart also suggested that Prince William's updates on Kate's health have remained unchanged for some time: “There has been no official medical report and we do not yet know what type of cancer Kate has, or specifically what treatment she is receiving,” he said.

“Kate should have been there (the rehearsal) as she is a colonel in one of the regiments involved. It's called a colonel's rehearsal but she's not going to be there,” he added.
The Colonel's Review usually takes place a week before the more high-profile parade marking the King's birthday, which is part of the March of the Colour celebrations. The Princess is a Colonel in the Irish Guards, who take part in the event.
“It remains a great honour to be a colonel and I am very disappointed that I will not be able to receive the salute at this year's Colonel's Parade,” Kate recently wrote to the captain of the Irish Guards. “Please convey my apologies to the entire regiment, but I hope to be able to represent you all again in the near future.”
