UNBC students, faculty and staff have created a new portal to connect medical researchers.
The team established the Health Research Institute, a cloud-based databank that makes it easy for researchers to find others with similar interests across UNBC, the North and other regions.
“The aim of HRI membership is to provide a means for researchers and their partners to collaborate and advance research and innovation,” said HRI manager Leana Garraway.
“HRI Connect is a great tool to facilitate networking and connection among our members, providing an online database for researchers to set up their profiles, showcase their research interests and make connections with others.
The portal has been created by Dr. Waqar Haque’s Business Intelligence Research Group Lab.
Eight graduate and undergraduate students from UNBC worked on the project over an 18-month development period.
Garraway said the feedback has been good so far.
“We need to do more to get it out there,” she said.
“It’s a really great tool for our members, but also a great tool for HRI to help communicate with our members.”
Current members include UNBC, Northern Health and other community organisations around the north, Garraway said.
