There are new rules regarding food trucks in Lachute.
On Monday, June 3, the Lachute City Council adopted rules that will only allow food trucks on city property during events and festivals. City Council approval is still required to permit food trucks at each event or festival. Food truck operators must pay a $250 fee for a permit to operate at each public event. Permits are not required for food trucks on private property or events held by non-profit organizations.
Speeding is prohibited in these areas
The speed limits on 11 residential and municipal roads in Lachute will soon be lowered.
A motion and notice of rules was presented to Lachute city council on Monday, May 3, which, if ultimately adopted, would set the speed limit at 40 kilometres per hour on Clair de Lune, Emilian, Franciscan, Georgette Laurent, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Le Cartier Jones, Louise Kirouac, Marc-Aurel Fortin, Saint-Croix and Tex Lecole streets. Currently, the speed limit on these streets is 50 kilometres per hour.
Working with Watson
The Watson Street reconstruction project in Lachute is about to get underway. On Monday, June 3, council awarded the construction contract to CTMIR of Mirabel for $1,867,659.45 (plus sales tax). The engineering contract for the Watson Street reconstruction project was awarded to DEC Enviro of Saint-Sauveur for $24,435 (plus sales tax).
