THIS is the triumphant moment a “game-changing” makeshift drone operator allegedly torched a Russian tank in eastern Ukraine.
This is a modern-day David vs. Goliath story, with an unmanned vehicle triumphing over a heavily armored beast.
The footage shows an aircraft loaded with explosives hovering just in front of the tank.
Using a live video feed from the drone's camera, the operator guides the drone to a weak spot in the target's sights – usually an open hatch, an engine or ammunition stored in a turret.

Once in position, the drone unleashes the full power of its payload, followed immediately by an explosion and a large flame shooting into the sky.
The tank shook violently, shattering into pieces and sending debris and debris flying in all directions.
Nothing remains of the Russian machinery but a few burnt pieces of debris.
The victim is believed to be one of the so-called “turtle tanks,” which have a welded metal cage encased on top of the turret for protection.

The attack was picked up by Ukraine's 46th Airborne Brigade in the Donetsk region, where the Kremlin has been strengthening its battlefield positions in recent weeks.
For Ukraine, this victory was achieved by investing a few hundred pounds in an FPV drone – in contrast to the vast resources Russia spends on tanks.
These are some of the most effective weapons in the Ukrainian war, often built by volunteers at up to £500.

They perform a variety of roles, including reconnaissance and surveillance, but may also be deployed in pairs for attack purposes.
Depending on size, battery and payload, range can vary from a few miles to over 10 miles.
Ukraine frequently shares similar videos showing how aviation has transformed modern warfare.
This is all part of the government's goal to manufacture one million FPV drones by 2024.
