TORONTO — Subway® Canada is proud to announce the return of its Never Miss Lunch™ program for the sixth consecutive year to combat child food insecurity across the country. On June 20, the purchase of a cookie at any Subway restaurant will help provide a meal for a child in a community across the country. The initiative supports Food Banks Canada and reinforces Subway's commitment to ensuring children across the country have access to nutritious food.

Supporting Canadian youth is more important than ever this year, with one in four children across Canada living in a household that is food insecure due to economic challenges, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada's Canadian Income Survey. This means that approximately 1.8 million children under the age of 18 in Canada are affected by food insecurity, up from 1.4 million in 2021.
It's no secret that Canadians love Subway cookies. More than 77 million cookies will be purchased in 2023 alone. And now there's even more reason to indulge in a delicious cookie. This year, Subway® Canada is making participation in the Never Miss Lunch™ initiative even more fun by launching a limited-edition cookie. Subway® Canada has added playful yellow and green sprinkles to its fan-favourite chewy, buttery cookie. For every cookie purchased on June 20, you will help Food Banks Canada reach their goal of distributing 200,000 packs of food to children in 215 communities.
“Food bank visits reached unprecedented levels last year, far surpassing our record number set in March 2023,” said Christine Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada. “Subway® Canada's 'Never Miss Lunch™' initiative plays a critical role in eliminating food insecurity for children across the country, and we're incredibly grateful for their support of our vision of a Canada where no one goes hungry.”
Kids should be a kids issue, not a hunger issue, and our Never Miss Lunch™ program ensures kids get the nutrition they need to thrive, supporting their learning, development, and the joy of being a kid.
“This year, we're thrilled to make it easier than ever for people across Canada to join the fight against child food insecurity, which wouldn't be possible without our franchisees' unwavering support of the Never Miss Lunch™ program in our communities,” said Courtney Hindloff, Managing Director, Subway Canada. “Over the years, Subway® is proud to have made a difference in over 200 Canadian communities through helping to deliver 740,000 fresh food packs to people in need.”
