BOZEMAN — More than 30,000 meals were packaged and donated to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank on Thursday as part of nutritional supplement company MTN OPS' “Operation Conquer Hunger” campaign.
“What we do here is just a small part of MTN OPS, but it's a big part of who we are,” said Cheryl Mountia, director of Operation Conquer Hangar.
Mountia said MTN OPS CEO Trevor Hearns has also experienced food insecurity in his own life.
“We started this initiative because we realised we could create a brand and help other people in a similar situation,” said Nick Hanks, chief operating officer at MTN OPS.
MTN OPS was invited to TOUGHFEST on Thursday by MTNTOUGH, a local fitness app, and about 140 volunteers participated in TOUGHFEST, packing food for HRDC's Healthy KidsPack program.
“We've seen a surge in utilization of this program, especially at a time when food prices have increased, so events like this really help alleviate the high costs of food so we can continue to operate our programs,” said Rachel Saran, outreach coordinator for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.
“To bring people together, people are standing shoulder to shoulder today and I think that before this is over, there will be some kind of nice community,” Mountia said.
“The goal of the day is to build community, give back to the community and show people the spirit and grit that is MTNTOUGH,” says Ryan Watson, chief marketing officer and operating officer for MTNTOUGH. “MTNTOUGH is all about doing the hard things. Choose the harder path, give back to your community and achieve more in life, both personally and around you.”
