A child has sadly died after being trapped 50 feet down a 500-foot deep well for over 50 hours.
Arohi, 18 months old, was playing in a field in Suragpura, Amreli district, India on Friday around noon when she fell into a deep hole.
“Bystanders were pumping oxygen through a pipe to help her breathe, and an ambulance was waiting nearby, a beacon of hope in the tense rescue operation,” a local source said.
She was reportedly stuck halfway down a narrow pipe just eight inches wide.
Teams from civil administration, fire and emergency services and army were rushed to the spot to assist in rescue efforts.
Sadly, the girl showed no signs of life when she was eventually pulled to the surface.

A similar incident occurred in Thailand last year, when a toddler trapped in a well there was freed after an 18-hour rescue operation.

The photo, taken from inside the extremely narrow well, showed a 19-month-old baby girl, named Tasa Moei, with her arms wrapped tightly around herself.
The Bangkok Post reported that she was about 50 feet down a well that was just a foot wide.
Local media said Tasa was “shocked and shaken but otherwise unharmed” and was quickly taken to Poplar Hospital.
