Princess Kate Middleton is gradually returning to royal duties and has provided an update amid her ongoing health battle.
The Princess of Wales, 42, sent a personal message to the public on Friday, June 14, nearly three months after announcing her cancer diagnosis, with the type discovered after undergoing major abdominal surgery in January. Since then, Kate has retreated from public life entirely and has asked for privacy while she undergoes preventive treatment.
“During this time, I have been touched by the many kind messages of encouragement and support I have received.
“Those few months,” she wrote, “made a huge difference to William and me and helped us both get through a difficult time.”
In a statement, Kate announced that she will gradually return to official engagements, including Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 15.

“My treatment is ongoing and will continue for several more months,” Kate said in a statement on Friday. “On days when I feel well enough, I enjoy taking part in school activities, spending personal time doing things that give me energy and positivity, and starting to do a little work from home.”

Kate said she was “recovering well” but acknowledged her recovery had its ups and downs.
“As anyone going through chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” she explained. “On the bad days, you feel weak and tired and all you can do is rest. But on the good days, you feel better and you want to make the most of it.”
Through this experience, Kate said she is “learning to be patient, especially during times of uncertainty,” adding that she is “taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this time I need to recover.”

Kate acknowledged that “we're not out of the woods yet,” but is hopeful that she will be able to “attend some public events over the summer.”
While she recovers, Kate has been spotted out in public with her husband Prince William's children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, a source told Us Weekly in May.

What will Kate Middleton do at the military flag ceremony?
Kate said she was “looking forward to attending” Trooping the Colour in 2024. Trooping the Colour is a famous event to celebrate King Charles III's birthday, featuring a spectacular military parade and royals gathering on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a Royal Air Force flyover.
Charles, 75, is also battling an undisclosed form of cancer, but is looking forward to Kate's attendance.

“Her Majesty is delighted that The Princess will be able to attend tomorrow's event and is very much looking forward to everything the day has to offer,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said in a statement on Friday.
A royal source told Us that Kate will “ride in a carriage” with her children during the parade. Prince Charles, who rode a horse last year, will also reportedly ride in a carriage on medical advice.
