The survey seeks data to understand the jobs, revenues and investments that technology creates.
The local tech community is working with companies to conduct economic impact studies to determine what the industry will look like in 2024.
Accelerate Okanagan's last economic study was in 2017, which found that technology had a combined impact of $1.67 billion on the local economy.
The survey measures key economic outcomes for the tech sector, including jobs, revenue and investment, as well as exploring the deeper challenges and opportunities facing Okanagan business owners.
“Benchmarking and understanding sector performance is important to inform policymakers and allocate resources,” Krista Mallory, manager of the Central Okanagan Economic Development Board, said in a press release. “We look forward to seeing the results and discovering new opportunities for Okanagan businesses.”
Accelerate Okanagan will work with KPMG on the study and will also receive support from the City of Vernon, Central Okanagan Economic Development Board, Tourism Kelowna, Okanagan College, UBC Okanagan and Kelowna International Airport.
Accelerate Okanagan is asking all tech companies located in the Okanagan-Similkameen, Central Okanagan, North Okanagan and parts of the Columbia-Shuswap region to complete a 20-minute survey by June 30.
