Globally recognized technology conference Web Summit Vancouver will provide major boost to British Columbia's technology sector over a three-year period starting in 2025
VANCOUVER, BC, June 18, 2024 /CNW/ — Hailed as the “Olympics of Technology,” Collision Conference will come to Vancouver with the support of the Government of Canada and a network of local economic development partners. The conference, which will be renamed Web Summit Vancouver in 2025, will drive economic growth, attract investment and tech talent to British Columbia, positioning the region as a global hub for innovation.

Today, the Honorable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Minister Responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan), announced $6.6 million in funding for Destination Vancouver to host the Web Summit in Vancouver over a three-year period starting in May 2025. The Minister made the announcement while attending Corizon 2024 in Toronto.
British Columbia's tech sector is home to more than 11,000 companies and provides quality jobs to more than 200,000 people. Bringing Web Summit to Vancouver will connect BC's best innovators and entrepreneurs with tech leaders from around the world, generating investment opportunities and providing lasting benefits to the local tech ecosystem.
The Webb Summit will draw thousands of people to Vancouver's hotels, restaurants and other businesses, generating economic benefits for British Columbia's tourism sector.
Web Summit Vancouver is the result of collaboration with partners who share PacifiCan's ambitions for British Columbia and Canada. By partnering with Destination Vancouver, the Province of British Columbia, Innovate BC, Invest Vancouver and the City of Vancouver, PacifiCan is helping bring the world of tech to BC's doorstep.
