What you need to know
Outdoor movie series Street Food Cinema recently announced its August 2024 schedule. Head to the Autry Museum in Griffith Park on August 17 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Super Troopers.” “The Mummy,” “Clueless” and “The Incredibles” are all on the August schedule, with the films screening at various locations across Southern California.
August is an “awe” month, to put it in a way that suits the extraordinary nature of the wonderful eighth month, but it can really feel like a “stuffing” month.
We don't “pack” in the sense of quitting, leaving or departing, but rather, we're trying to pack in all the fun summer activities, from outdoor dining events to beach days to outdoor movie nights.
Call it the back-to-school effect. Time is flying by so quickly that it's time to find some summer fun and make the most of it.
Street Food Cinema has some answers for that particular August desire to pack in some fun before fall sets in. The outdoor film series announced its August 2024 schedule in early June, and as you'd expect, it features the light-hearted homages to the many cinematic milestones that have become synonymous with the series.
The hit comedy “Super Troopers” will hold a 30th anniversary party at the Autry Theatre in Griffith Park on Aug. 17, and “The Mummy” will be showing at the same venue on Aug. 10.
That's right, this hugely popular action romance is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
“Clueless,” a collaboration with the DTLA Alliance, will bring its frenetic energy to DTLA's Grand Hope Park on August 10, while “Crazy Stupid Love” will head west to Will Rogers State Historic Park on August 24.
There are plenty more Awe-gust gems on the schedule, not to mention a July gem, and tickets are on sale now for both months.
Adding to the atmosphere of the outdoor entertainment extravaganza will be photo opportunities near a variety of film-, food truck- and game-inspired backdrops to help fuel the energy of the crowd.
Summer hasn't even started yet, but we can already feel it approaching. Summer is fleeting, and as you would expect, it passes by in the blink of an eye.
Join us now for some summer movie fun at our Street Food Cinema event.
And happy anniversary to all the films that will be in the spotlight in 2024 for this series, which will feature many great films shot in many locations in Los Angeles.
