The first day of summer was Thursday, also known as the summer solstice, so named because it's the longest day of the year, which occurs when the Earth is at its maximum tilt toward the Sun.
Whether you're braving the heat or just getting through a long day, there are deals out there. Here are a few to choose from, but be sure to check the social media accounts of your favorite local businesses to see if there are any other deals available.

Buffalo Wild Wings Summer Solstice BOGO Sale
Buffalo Wild Wings is celebrating the summer solstice by offering rewards program members a free boneless wing with the purchase of a boneless wing on Thursday, June 20. Sauce choices include two recent additions to the menu: the revived Buffalo Ranch sauce and new Luau BBQ, described as a sweet and smoky pineapple sauce.
Note: The restaurant chain recently began offering all-you-can-eat boneless wings and fries for $19.99 every Monday and Wednesday through July 10th.
Sonic Drive-In: Groovy Fries for $1 this June only
Earlier this month, the fast-food chain launched new Groovy Fries smothered in Groovy Sauce, which Sonic described in a release as “a creamy blend of flavorful ranch dressing and herbs, with a touch of mild Sriracha sauce.”
Throughout the month of June, customers can purchase any size of the new fries for just $1.
Summer Solstice Food Deals
Kroger: The supermarket chain is giving away 45,000 free pints of Kroger-branded ice cream on Thursday, June 20, while supplies last. Visit FreeKrogerIceCream.com to download a limited-time, one-time digital coupon to redeem that day. Melting Pot: For the longest day of your life, try the restaurant chain's special Forever Fondue promotion, which comes with a salad, an endless entree (Land & Sea, Classic, and Steak Lovers combos available), and chocolate fondue (through August 1). Whataburger: On Thursday, June 20, Whataburger is giving away free 16-ounce iced coffees from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit any of their locations in 15 states and either come in or use the drive-thru, or visit Whataburger.com or the Whataburger app for pickup or delivery.
Target is among the stores cutting prices for the summer
Restaurants aren't the only ones offering sales: Many retailers are ringing in the summer with price cuts on food, household goods and other products in response to consumer concerns about inflation. Among them:
