Jay Slater, British boy who went missing in Tenerife – all questions remain unanswered
The disappearance of a British teenager who went missing whilst on holiday in Tenerife remains shrouded in mystery as police intensify their search on the island.
Jay Slater was in the Canary Islands with friends for the NRG Weekender music festival but has not been seen or heard from since Monday morning. The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, had been out with friends the night before but decided to wait until they had returned to their accommodation.
The next morning, Jay called a friend to say he was lost and was trying to walk back because he and another friend had missed a bus on another part of the island. Jay's mother, Debbie, and brother, Zach, flew to the island early Tuesday morning after police knocked on their door to report Jay was missing.
But as more information is gathered, police and family are desperately searching for answers about Jay's whereabouts.

Search parties retrace Jay's steps and resume search for the boy
A friend shared a video in the “official” Facebook group, which shows her and other members of the search party retracing Jay's steps.
However, no trace of the apprentice bricklayer was found during the walk.
The shed was also searched as Jay may have gone in to escape the hot sun. The video appears to have been taken on Tuesday afternoon.

Security forces say they are “trying everything possible” to find Jay
A spokesman for Tenerife's security forces said they were “doing everything possible” to find Mr Slater.
“A specialist mountain rescue intervention group, known as Graeme, has been mobilised. A police helicopter has also been deployed and is concentrating on the area around the village of Maska.”
“Other emergency services, including firefighters, have also been mobilised. All possible measures are being taken to locate the missing man.”
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it was “supporting the family of a British man who is missing in Spain and is in contact with local authorities.”

Jay's mother flew to Tenerife to lead the search.
Jay's mother, Debbie, flew out to Tenerife this morning.
She told the Daily Mail: “I'm absolutely devastated, which is why I've flown down here with my eldest son and we're trying to do whatever we can. We're just praying that the police or anyone finds Jay. I know there are mountain rescue teams and a helicopter out there.”
“When your youngest child goes missing, nothing is ever enough, but the police here seem to be taking it very seriously and doing their best.”

11 things police told missing British boy's mother at 2am after her son went missing in Tenerife
Police knocked on the door of the family of a missing teenager from Tenerife and instructed them to catch the first flight out, the boy's stepfather has revealed.
Jay Slater is currently missing in the Canary Islands after attending a music festival with friends. The 19-year-old called friends on Monday morning to say he was lost and that his phone had only 1% battery left and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
The apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, had been out the previous night but decided to stay in whilst his friends returned to their flat. Their friend Lucy received a worried call at 8.15am the following morning to say Jay had missed the bus and was planning to make the 11-hour walk home, but then his mobile phone was switched off.

Family of British boy Jay Slater goes missing in Tenerife, desperate appeal for help
The family of a British boy who went missing in Tenerife have launched a frantic search for the boy who they said was missing during his final phone call with a friend.
Jay Slater, 19, was in the Canary Islands for a music festival when he disappeared to stay with people he met on a night out. In his last call with a friend, he said his phone had only 1% battery left, he was thirsty and he didn't know where he was.
His last known location was in Rural de Tano Park, a popular hiker area, and his friend Lucy said she was desperately searching for him on the island while his mother made her way there.
Lucy told the Manchester Evening News: “Jay had gone out for a night out and went to the house of some friends he'd met whilst on holiday. One of the people he'd met had borrowed a car from here so Jay drove them back to his apartment, Jay had gone there unaware of how far it was.”
