Saweetie didn't realize her food wasn't “normal” until she started posting it online.
The 30-year-old “Icy Girl” rapper is known for her inventive food combinations, such as spaghetti topped with ranch dressing and oysters with honey BBQ sauce, which regularly set social media ablaze, and she attributes her unconventional tastes to her “young parents.”
“Honestly, I inherited a lot of my formulas from my dad because he would make me spreads when I was a young dad,” Saweetie told People magazine. “He would make me these cool 'Scooby-Doo' sandwiches with loads of chips and fries, just the way he likes them.”
“But I've always loved making new things and trying new foods,” she added. “I'm a really big foodie.”

Her passion project has now doubled as a professional project: Saweetie has partnered with The Boiling Crab and Postmates to bring a new “dining experience” to homes across America just in time for summer.
Described as a seafood dish “with a difference,” Hot Mess is inviting customers to try new dining options inspired by the flavors of Saweetie's “Hot Mess” at a discount, according to a press release.
The Hot Mess ($50), The Bigger Hot Mess ($80) and The Biggest Hot Mess ($120) each include snow crab, shrimp, corn, andouille sausage and fries (the pricier option comes with fried shrimp, steamed rice and clams for two), and will be available for delivery exclusively through Postmates from eight locations in Los Angeles and elsewhere around the country through July 7.
Saweetie told People magazine that the new partnership was inspired in large part by the fact that boiling crab is one of the dishes she orders “most frequently” through Postmates.
“I just love seafood,” she says. “My earliest memories of seafood are going to the fish market with my maternal grandmother or my mother. They're Asian, and Asians love supermarkets.”
“I used to bring live crabs home, put them in boiling water, cook them, and eat them with rice,” the Bay Area native continues, “so the little girl in me is super excited and super happy to be collaborating with a business that I absolutely love.”

Saweetie, who released the single “Nani” over the summer, said: “At this point in my career, I'm not doing it for financial gain. I'm doing it out of passion. It's always special when you can do business with people who have a common interest.” [with]; in this case seafood.
The timing couldn't be better: “The fact that it's coming out during Cancer season, and I'm a Cancer, it feels so in line and in sync with everything that's going on for me right now,” the “Richtivities” rapper adds, “Especially since I just dropped a new song.”
“There's good music, good food, and I feel special and lucky right now.”
