Heavy rainfall in the northern part of our region is expected to cause runoff and flooding of the Missouri River in our area next week. Check this blog post for the latest updates.
Outside of a storm or two in northwest Missouri, the rest of the state will be dry and warm as we finish up Saturday. At night, it will become cooler (and less humid) and more comfortable. Lows will drop into the mid 60s F.
Sunday will be sunny and warm with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s F. Humidity will be noticeable, but it won't be as muggy as the past few days.
The heat will peak next week on Monday with highs in the upper 90s. Highs in some parts of southeast Nebraska (Lincoln, Beatrice, Falls City) may even reach the 100s. Humidity will also return, with temperatures across the region reaching 103-106 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to take precautions if you are outdoors for extended periods of time.
It will still be hot and humid on Tuesday, but a cold front will move in by the evening, providing some relief. Along the front, thunderstorms are possible in the evening. Some of these storms could be powerful, but the chances for organized severe weather seem low at this time.
Temperatures will cool down on Wednesday but still be above average with highs in the upper 80s Fahrenheit.
Storm chances will increase again over the weekend as a more active pattern returns. It's unclear when and who will bring the rain later next week, but storm chances will increase Thursday and Friday. On the flip side, temperatures will cool over the weekend with highs in the mid 80s Fahrenheit.
