Inside Out 2 breaks record by grossing $100 million in second weekend
NEW YORK (AP) — The second weekend was just as gratifying for “Inside Out 2.” The Pixar sequel grossed $100 million in ticket sales in its second weekend, setting a new record for an animated sequel in theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. Only six movies have had better second weekends. The previous best second weekend for an animated film was $92 million for “Super Mario Bros. The Movie.” Just a week and a half later, “Inside Out 2” has become the highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far, grossing $724.4 million worldwide. In about a week, “Inside Out 2” will likely break the $1 billion mark, making it the first movie to do so since “Barbie.”
Kylian Mbappe is getting used to his new mask ahead of Poland match, team-mates say
PADERBORN, Germany (AP) — France captain Kylian Mbappe is getting used to wearing a new protective mask ahead of a possible return against Poland at Euro 2024. According to teammate Aurélien Chouameni, Mbappe is “starting to get used to” the mask and is “really looking forward to” France's next match on Tuesday. Mbappe did not play in Friday's 0-0 draw with the Netherlands after breaking his nose in France's opening 1-0 win over Austria. Chouameni also suggested France was working on improving its finishing after World Cup runners-up scored just one goal in their first two Euro 2024 group stage matches.

The sculpture near Michigan Avenue features reflective surfaces inspired by liquid mercury, making it a popular tourist hub, especially for photos and selfies. Various sections of the sculpture offer views of the city's skyscrapers.

Easy recipe for onigiri using salted plums
TOKYO (AP) — Onigiri are balls of rice with something inside, similar to how a sandwich has something between two slices of bread. And just as nearly all Americans make and eat sandwiches, most Japanese eat onigiri too. Here's the basics: Wet your hands with salted water. Take a handful of cooked rice. Place a umeboshi (salted Japanese plum) on top of it. Take another bowl of rice in your other hand and place it on top of the rice and umeboshi. Cup your hands together and gently crush the rice. Rotate the rice in your hands a few times so it forms a triangle. Roll it in nori (dried seaweed) or eat it as is.

A New Mexico judge has denied a request for new testimony from the filmmakers in the Alec Baldwin trial.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico judge said prosecutors cannot use immunity to compel a film-set gunner to testify in the manslaughter trial of actor Alec Baldwin, who shot and killed a cinematographer during rehearsals for the Western movie “The Lust.” At a hearing Friday, the judge denied prosecutors' requests to use immunity to compel Hannah Gutierrez-Reed to testify in other court proceedings. Gutierrez-Reed was convicted in March of manslaughter for shooting and killing cinematographer Halina Hutchins at a ranch where the film was set. Baldwin's lawyers are also asking the judge to halt the trial on charges that the FBI destroyed evidence. He has pleaded not guilty.
