The University of Michigan won the college football national championship last season, but it did so with the kind of frenzy only Michigan fans could find a way to prevent.
The Wolverines were embroiled in a major cheating scandal involving illegally recording the team's sideline and stealing signs, which led to former head coach Jim Harbaugh being suspended for the final three games of the regular season by the Big Ten, but the Wolverines still won all of their games last season and are awaiting an NCAA investigation to determine whether they should be stripped of their title.
Michigan fans were in denial when the cheating scandal broke last year. They just couldn't believe it even though there was evidence that their team cheated. It makes no sense that a fanbase that fights with other fans over everything isn't even ranked in the top 50 most hostile fanbases in sports and should be investigated.
Michigan is lucky not to be ranked.

Leading social media network Big Game Boomer ranked the top 50 most hostile fanbases in sports and Michigan was nowhere to be found. Arch rival Ohio State was at No. 4 and while there is no arguing that Michigan is just as hostile as Wolverines fans are, it's laughable that Michigan isn't on this list.

Michigan State, Wisconsin and Maryland are also on the list, but there is no animosity between their fan bases. Wisconsin has one of the coolest fan bases in college football, so putting them on the list is a joke.
Naturally, Michigan fans reacted positively to this, but fans of the opposing team did not react so well and took to social media to share their thoughts.

I'm a very antagonistic person between Philadelphia sports and Ohio State 😂. Still, in what world is Maryland more antagonistic than Michigan? https://t.co/4meAwviaUq

The College Football Playoff and ESPN agree to a six-year contract extension.
We Michigan fans are spreading joy and love.

Our Michigan Wolverines should be on top. Speaking of hostile, none of your teams were good enough to come close to us this year. The CFP committee knew Alabama was the best team to beat us, but even the Bums failed. Roll Tide, come home…
