Leeds United are due to travel to Germany in July for a pre-season training camp but the club has asked supporters not to travel there to follow the team.
“Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond the club's control, the club has recently been informed that all friendly matches in Germany have been ordered to be played behind closed doors,” the club said in a statement.
“We understand that our supporters are disappointed by this news, as are we at the club. We have explored all options but are unable to reverse this decision.”
“As always, we would like to thank you for your dedication and hard work but, in light of the above, we would ask all supporters planning to attend Leeds United pre-season training or matches to refrain from travelling to Germany.”
The club added that they are also in discussions about the possibility of streaming Leeds' games whilst on the road.
“It's disappointing for Leeds United supporters who always travel in large numbers to wherever pre-season is held,” said BBC Radio Leeds' Adam Pope.
“There's already been some reaction on social media: 'Why not play in another country?'
“My understanding is that the German authorities and police will have their hands full after Euro 2024 and so orders have been issued to not allow fans to attend friendlies next month, which is why no dates or potential opponents have been announced at this time.”
