A new travel warning has been issued for Brits holidaying in East African destinations, citing the risk of finding themselves in dangerous situations.
Vacationers flock to Kenya to see its incredibly beautiful landscapes and fascinating wildlife. Tourists can explore Nairobi National Park, Sheldrick Wildlife Sanctuary and the Giraffe Centre before relaxing on beautiful beaches such as Diani Beach and Watamu Beach.
However, British citizens have been advised that planned protests could occur across the country.

The FCDO recently updated their information on the political situation in Kenya.
“People have been injured at anti-government political protests in recent months,” the British government said.
“Planned protests against the 2024 Finance Bill are expected to continue in several Kenyan cities, including Nairobi.”
British people were warned to “avoid political rallies and large gatherings”.
They were also advised to “monitor local media for when and where large-scale protests are likely to occur.”
British people considering travelling to Kenya should refer to the FCDO's guidance on warnings and insurance, entry requirements, safety and security, local risks and how to get help in an emergency.
Building on its safety and security guidance, the FCDO provided key information on terrorism, crime, legal and cultural differences, outdoor activities and adventure tourism (including wildlife reserves and national parks), road risks, extreme weather and natural disasters.
Kenya is a popular tourist destination, but Brits are being advised not to visit certain areas.
Areas where the FCDO advises against non-essential travel

The FCDO said: “Due to the risk of terrorism from Somalia-based groups, the FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the following countries:
“Within 60km of the Kenya-Somalia border, eastern Garissa County up to 20km northwest of the A3 road, including Boni National Reserve, Mandera County (excluding Mandera West Sub-County), Lamu County (excluding Lamu Island and Manda Island), Tana River County north of the Tana River up to 20km northwest of the A3 road, within 15km of the east coast between the Tana River and the Galana (Ati Galana Sabaki) River.”
