LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Recent reports from Harry Reid International Airport showed an increase in travelers heading to Las Vegas, despite the current economic hardships facing many people.
Passenger numbers at Reed International Airport increased 5.2% in May, according to the report.
“I know how to have fun on a shoestring, so I booked my room early,” said Marquita Newton of Dallas.
She travels on a budget and says Las Vegas is a fun place to visit without spending a lot of money, and others agree.
“We budget for our vacations, but this was perfect for us because it was more affordable and there was so much to do,” said Cathy Johnson, from Ohio.
Officials at Harry Reid International Airport said more than 5 million travelers used the airport last month, an increase of more than 5% compared to 2023.
The Forresters, visiting from Pennsylvania, said the variety of affordable options is what keeps families like them coming back.
“We know the budget and price range,” Jason Forrester said.
“The Deuce Bus is a very cheap way to get around the Strip. A 24-hour pass is $8 and it was a great option for us since we didn't have to walk much,” he added.
Overall, travel numbers at Harry Reid International Airport have increased by more than 2% over the course of the year.
