BEIJING — Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's invitation to attend the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Annual Meeting of New Champions in China for the second consecutive year demonstrates Vietnam's important role at the forum, according to Xu Liping, director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
This also demonstrates Vietnam's key priority in China's foreign policy and fully reflects Vietnam's important leading role in the global economy, he told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Beijing.
He argued that Vietnam is in the development process of the global economy and plays a pioneering role to some extent, making it a fitting host for the event.
Statistics show that Vietnam's economic growth rate is expected to reach 5.5 percent in 2023 and 6-6.5 percent in 2024.
This economic growth rate is very remarkable, he said, adding that it is relatively high among Asia's emerging economies, reflecting Vietnam's future potential and economic development, especially in the current context of global economic recovery.

“Vietnam's economic growth is boosting confidence in the recovery of the global economy, which is why it is so important for Vietnam to be invited to the forum for the second consecutive time,” Xu said, asserting that this shows the Vietnamese economy's contribution to the growth of the Asia-Pacific economy and even the global economy.
Commenting on PM Chin's speech at the opening of the plenary session of the conference, the scholar said the speech was very rich in content, had many very positive points and would undoubtedly inspire strong confidence among the business and political communities attending the forum.
The issue raised by the Vietnamese Prime Minister reflects the Vietnamese leadership's accurate assessment of the development of the global economy.
He said the three proposals put forward by PM Trinh – developing the digital economy, promoting the green economy and developing human resources – are groundbreaking new development steps that Vietnam puts forward to boost global economic growth.
Xu also praised the three economic recovery measures proposed by Prime Minister Trinh at the event, especially institution building in emerging economies.
According to scholars, PM Trinh's appreciation for China's contributions to the global economy demonstrates the high level of strategic trust between China and Vietnam. — VNS
