Holy Rosary Catholic School demonstrated its passion for service through yet another amazingly successful food fundraiser. Organized by the school's dedicated students and staff, the event received an overwhelming response from Wyoming residents.
On Wednesday, June 12, 5th and 6th grade students distributed nearly 500 decorated paper shopping bags around the neighborhood. Each bag contained a note requesting donations of food and household items, and residents were asked to place the items on their porches for collection. Two days later, on Friday, June 14, 7th and 8th grade students returned to collect donations. The response was amazing, with nearly every household supporting the effort with a donation.
The success of the food drive can be attributed to the hard work of several key people. Educational assistant Leslie Maniuk played a vital role in coordinating the event, while teachers Colleen Rice and Shawn Struband provided invaluable support to ensure the drive was well organized and ran smoothly. Assisting with the food drive were custodian Jason McGill and eighth grade parent Jermely Sitler.
Acting Principal Luana Sfarcin offered her heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved, saying, “The overwhelming success of this food drive truly demonstrates the compassion and generosity of the Wyoming community. Our students and faculty demonstrated incredible leadership, and I couldn't be proud of their efforts and the positive impact they've made.”
The items collected reflect the spirit of charity and service that runs deep within the Holy Rosary School community and will greatly benefit local families in need. We would like to thank everyone who made this wonderful act of kindness possible.
