A new retail survey has been launched to gather Islanders' views on local shopping and the development of St Peter Port and other community hubs.
The local shopping and town use survey, run by Island Global Research, is being carried out for Guernsey Retail Group (GRG) to explore how local people would like the Town, Bridge and St Martins centres to develop, and the findings will ultimately contribute to the ongoing development of Guernsey's retail strategy.
Jonathan Creasy, chairman of the GRG, commented: “Guernsey needs to ensure that retail meets the needs and expectations of islanders well into the future, so this is not just focused on shopping, it is about establishing a voice for the centre for accessing hospitality, amenities and other services.”
“This is an ideal opportunity for Islanders to have their say on how the town and other commercial centres can be adapted to best serve the current and future needs of local people.
“We ask and encourage as many people as possible to take part in the survey as the results will reflect the collective voice of Guernsey shoppers and will be valuable to the retail industry.”
The survey asks Islanders why they visited the different centres, how they evaluated their visiting experience, what motivates them to visit more frequently, their chosen mode of transport and various shopping questions.
Neil Inder, vice chair of the Economic Development Committee, said: “We recognise the importance of a healthy, vibrant and relevant retail industry and are keen to find out what people want from their local shopping experience in the future. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the development of the Town and Bridge District.”
The survey is open to Guernsey residents aged 16 and over and can be found here and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
