Double-check your sunscreen products before slathering them on this long weekend, as Health Canada is recalling multiple products across the country.
Health Canada recalled nine lots of Santegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation on Thursday due to possible fungal contamination. The agency did not say how many tubes of the product had been sold in Canada.
The federal agency advised Canadians to consult with their health care provider before stopping use of the tinted sunscreens or if they have any health concerns, but did not say whether any side effects have been reported from the products or what they might be.
Santegrity Skincare said in an online emergency notice that it voluntarily recalled several shades of its sunscreen foundation on May 24 after testing of one of the lots “discovered an offensive odor due to product separation and unacceptable levels of microbial mold.”
“If you purchased this product directly from our website or Amazon, please check the lot number located on the back of the tube at the top crimp line where the tube is sealed,” the company advises.
The skincare line added that anyone who purchased the product can email the company directly with their order number, product lot number, name, and a photo of the tube to receive a refund.
