The Kirkland Lake Multicultural Association and Blanche River Health are teaming up to keep medical staff in the area.
Recruiting health care professionals to northern communities is the goal of a new Kirkland Lake partnership.
Kirkland Lake Multicultural Society (KLMS) and Blanche River Health (BRH) are teaming up to showcase the unique benefits of Kirkland Lake and the surrounding Englehart area and to attract doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
Multicultural societies offer migrant families the opportunity to settle and learn more about their new home and future prospects.
“Every family is different, so no two visits are the same,” KLMS President Anna McPherson said in a news release.
“Our small but mighty community offers people moving to the area plenty of activities, events and opportunities to make new friends. We hope that by providing an enriching experience for newcomers, it will help them envision building a future in our beautiful northern region.”

Blanche River Health has 74-bed hospitals in Kirkland Lake and Englehart, serving both municipalities and the surrounding areas.
The importance of community belonging is key to attracting medical professionals, Jorge VanSlyke, president and CEO of BRH, said in a press release.
“As we look at life in our state's communities, it's important to recognize that we all need a sense of belonging, including our families,” VanSlyke said.
“By providing an enriching experience for newcomer families, we hope to help them begin to build their futures and become active members of our community.”
The partnership will commence in April 2024 and as part of the agreement, all BRH employees will receive KLMS membership.
