Since former US President Donald Trump was shot in the right ear at a rally in Pennsylvania today, several videos have been circulating on social media. One shocking video shows a witness who claims to have spotted the gunman 5-7 minutes before the shooting. The witness told a BBC reporter that they had contacted the Secret Service, but no action was taken.
Witnesses told the BBC that they saw a man crawling up the roof of a building about 50 feet away from them, about five to seven minutes after Trump began speaking. The man said he and others began pointing at the man with the rifle, even pointing him out to police officers who were there to protect and control Trump. “They didn’t know what was going on. I was thinking in my mind, why is Trump still speaking, why aren’t the security guys taking him off the stage? I stood there for two or three minutes pointing at the shooter. Secret Service were watching us from the top of the barn, but I kept pointing at the roof. Next thing I knew, we were hearing gunshots,” the man said.

In a statement early Sunday, the FBI named Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as a person of interest in the assassination attempt. Crooks, who was listed as a Republican on state voter records, was confirmed dead by the Secret Service after the rally that left one attendee dead and two injured. Law enforcement officials told reporters that a motive for the attack had not yet been determined.
During the rally, shots rang out just after President Trump (78) began speaking. He held his right ear with his hand, examined himself for a moment, then knelt behind the podium as Secret Service agents guarded him. President Trump emerged about a minute later, his red “Make America Great Again” hat removed, and he pumped his fist in the air while saying, “Wait, wait.” He was then escorted off the stage by security.
