After spontaneously booking a cheap(ish) flight to New York on Black Friday (PS: this is the hack of the century for getting a decent flight price on the last weekend of November!) I looked for all my friends' recommendations, TikTok tips, and online guides. We handpick the most popular places to stay, the best things to do, and the most delicious food. And with my humble boast, I think I succeeded.
Lower East Side Accommodations
When I asked people who had been to New York and people I knew about where to stay, I was flooded with advice to live in downtown Lower Manhattan, especially the Lower East Side and East Village (all week long). – Because the Blair Waldorf x Serena van der Woodsen fantasy isn’t all glitz and glamor…but more on that later.
Naturally, I was interested in how downtown looked compared to the Central Park area seen in the movie, but simply, it all comes down to atmosphere.
If you live in a city, you know that you should avoid staying in the center. I mean, as someone who grew up in London, for example Piccadilly Circus, Canary, He Wharf, Covent Garden, etc., I would rarely recommend staying for the first time. Yes, it's a great location for sightseeing, shopping and landmark sightseeing, but if you can, we'd recommend reorienting your hotel stay to Islington, Notting Hill or even Finsbury Park. Gentrified? Perhaps, but definitely offers a cool atmosphere, a calming retreat and, best of all, good transport links.
And, as I learned from my own visit, the same is true in New York. Downtown is just the place! Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to visit both his LES and East Village areas, and first went to The His Moxy on the Lower East Side.

Summit One Vanderbilt
The Empire State and Rockefeller Plaza are two of the state's most iconic buildings. Naturally, when planning a trip, you may be thinking about where to go, or you may not want to go either due to financial reasons.
