Ever since the e-pass system was launched in Ooty, commercial establishments and businesses are facing difficulties. Shop owners said they spent a lot of money to stock their stores before the tourist season. But now I can't even earn 5000 rupees a day. Some of these shops used to earn between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 per day. Between Nadukhani Valley and Nadukhani Junction, he has 28 shops selling Ooty tea leaves, dry fruits and other unique products. Most of the tourists who arrive at various tourist spots in Nilgiri also frequent these shops. During the season, it is sure to be crowded with customers day and night. However, since the introduction of the e-pass system, few customers have come to these stores.
Flower show held successfully
Those who had booked accommodation in the city had to cancel a large number of their reservations as the e-pass was launched during the iconic flower show, which is also Ooty's busiest season. This is causing serious losses to the people who operate rental resorts here. In addition, the flower show, which was expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors a day, had a disappointing result, with less than half showing up to the venue. It will begin on May 10th and run from 9am to 7pm until May 20th. On Saturday, Ooty railway services were also suspended following heavy rains and rocks falling on the tracks near Kalar station. The government has also asked tourists to postpone their trips to Ooty until May 20 due to inclement weather.
E-pass
It is mandatory for everyone except locals and tourists who enter Ooty in government buses to obtain an e-pass to enter the hill station. If you plan to visit by June 30th, please apply from the e-pass site. Dates of entry and exit, purpose of visit, address, number of passengers, vehicle and fuel type are the details that passengers must enter on the website. The e-pass has a QR code which is scanned at entry points in Ooty and Kodaikanal.
