MCALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — Travel numbers could reach record levels this Memorial Day weekend, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection is suggesting travelers crossing the border apply for a tourist permit online.
Laredo enacts drought contingency plan
Applications can be made through the CBP One app.
“With summer travel approaching, the port is encouraging those who need a travel permit to apply online through CBP One and choose their preferred bridge, taking into account wait times at the border.” CBP Laredo Port Director Albert Flores said in a statement. “Keeping these resources up-to-date can help make travel go more smoothly and provide smoother border crossings.”

Agricultural products, alcoholic beverages, and cash over $10,000 must be declared at U.S. ports of entry.
Wait times remain long at Laredo's Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge due to drainage work and lane changes. CBP officials are urging people to find alternate routes or allow extra time for travel.
