26 May 2024 – The new Dubrovnik-Budva ferry will operate twice a day, connecting the pearl of the Adriatic with Montenegro's popular coastal towns. Take a look at ticket prices.
Historically, relations between neighboring Montenegro and Croatia have been tense – especially between Dubrovnik and Montenegro, where Montenegrins behaved badly in Croatia's southernmost city during the Patriotic War – but it seems time to move forward and reunite the two countries, at least in a maritime sense.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, a ship owned and operated by shipping company Kompas will link the Montenegrin resort of Budva with the city of Dubrovnik this summer, with two trips per day starting June 29.
This was revealed during a press conference on the matter by Montenegro's Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic.
Kompas director Bojan Aljnovic explained that his company has a lot of experience in maritime transport and that this method will facilitate passenger transport between Croatia and Montenegro, adding that, at least according to Montenegrin media, the company is working on the operational part of the project and is enthusiastic about it.
Arzinovic said that according to rough calculations, tickets for the new ferry between Dubrovnik and Budva would likely cost 55 euros one-way, with a round-trip day ticket costing 69 euros.
As things stand, the new Dubrovnik-Budva ferry is scheduled to link the two coastal cities until the end of September, he said, adding that passengers will be transported on larger ships that can accommodate 242 people.
