Starting today, May 28, 2024, Georgian citizens will be able to visit China for short periods without a visa.
The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the agreement on visa-free travel for Georgian citizens concluded with China officially came into effect today.
According to VisaGuide.World, the ministry stressed that although Georgians no longer need to apply for a Chinese visa, they still need to meet some requirements under the Visa Waiver Agreement.
Under the agreement between the two countries, Georgians can enter China without a visa and stay for up to 30 days.
Additionally, you should avoid staying in China for more than 90 days within any 180-day period to avoid being penalized if you enter China without a visa in the future.
Georgian citizens may travel to China without a visa and stay for a maximum of 30 days per trip, but the combined duration of visa-free travel and stay may not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.

This agreement between Georgia and China only covers Georgians entering China for short-term stays, which means that Georgian passport holders who want to stay in China for more than 30 days for work, study or other purposes will need to obtain a visa.
Georgians must possess these documents to be allowed visa-free entry into China.
To be allowed visa-free entry to China, Georgians must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the period of their stay in China.
Additionally, Georgians will need to prove that they have booked a hotel and purchased travel health insurance.
The above documents must be presented when crossing the border, and Chinese border officials are responsible for checking them and allowing or denying entry to Georgians.
The ministry noted that Georgians should keep in mind when traveling to China that there are restrictions on social and mobile platforms.
Georgian nationals are subject to Chinese laws and regulations. Georgian consulates will provide assistance within the scope of their legal authority.

Georgia already allows visa-free entry for Chinese tourists
Georgia will allow visa-free entry for Chinese tourists from September 11, 2023.
Similarly, tourists from China are allowed to stay in Georgian territory for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa.
Georgia's decision to grant visa exemptions to Chinese travelers was aimed at attracting more tourists and encouraging investment.
Georgia was the first country to abolish visa exemptions, so China's decision to allow Georgians visa-free entry is a reciprocal move.
