A 38-year-old St Catherine woman accused of stealing another woman's identity to obtain several documents was reportedly planning to travel overseas.
The revelations came to light when Taneithia Reid appeared in St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday. She is due to appear again on July 12.
Reed, a labourer from Spanish Town, is charged with forgery, conspiracy to forge, obtaining a passport with a false document and making a false statement.
During the hearing, Senior Judge Desiree Alleyne indicated her intention to expedite the proceedings.
However, the defense informed the court that Reed had hired new counsel and needed time to review the disclosed documents.
The judge agreed that another date was needed to facilitate the process.
The court heard Reid, who was deported to Jamaica, intended to use false identity documents to secure travel outside the country.
The original owner of the biodata had allegedly gone to the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency for business purposes, only to be informed that the information was in the possession of someone else.
The complainant, who travelled from St Elizabeth, then went to the tax office where it was discovered that he already had a tax registration number, driving licence and passport containing someone else's photograph.
Police were contacted and after an investigation, Reid was charged.
