President Joe Biden said Thursday he will not use executive power to reduce the sentence his son Hunter will ultimately receive for his federal felony gun conviction.
Asked at the end of a news conference at the G7 summit of the world's richest democracies whether he planned to commute his son's sentence, Biden said he had no plans to do so.

Hunter Biden's sentencing date has not yet been set, but he could face up to 25 years in prison on each of the three charges.
Whether Hunter Biden actually goes to prison will depend on U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, who was appointed to the bench by former Republican President Donald Trump.
Biden's comments came a day after the White House did not rule out the possibility of commuting Hunter Biden's sentence. Both the president and the White House have maintained for months that Biden would not pardon his son.
“I'm incredibly proud of my son, Hunter. He's overcome his addiction and he's one of the most intelligent, decent men I know,” Biden said at a news conference Thursday. “I will abide by the jury's decision, and I will, and I'm not going to pardon him.”
