JAKARTA, Indonesia, June 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Jakarta Provincial Government has won the prestigious Best Booth Event Award at the Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2024. The award was presented to Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head Helma Dahlia by Chairman and CEO of Korea Travel Fair (KOTFA) during the closing ceremony held at the CO Exhibition Center in Seoul on Sunday, May 12.
Herma Dahlia stressed that Jakarta's participation in SITF 2024 is part of a broader effort to boost international tourist visits to the city. “The Jakarta Provincial Government, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, aims to attract 9.5 million to 14.3 million foreign tourists to Indonesia in 2024,” she said.
Head of Marketing and Attractions Sherry Juliana highlighted the importance of SITF 2024 in promoting Jakarta's leisure destinations and strengthening international relations. “The event will position Jakarta as a leading tourist destination for Korean travellers,” she added.
According to the Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS), from January to November 2023, Jakarta welcomed 1,784,359 international visitors. Shelley noted that the influx reflects the recovery of the tourism sector after the pandemic, highlighting the opportunity to develop Jakarta's iconic and culturally rich attractions alongside a modern lifestyle.
To support these efforts, Indonesia, through its Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, has launched direct flights between Hanoi and Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, and Ho Chi Minh City and Bali. “The initiative aims to attract more Korean tourists to Indonesia via Vietnam,” Shelley explained.
Lucky Wulandari, Head of Overseas Tourism Marketing Subgroup, said five carefully selected co-exhibitors from Jakarta participated in SITF 2024. The selection process was conducted in collaboration with the Jakarta Hotel Association (JHA) and the Association of Indonesian Travel Agents (ASTINDO). The co-exhibitors included PT Sabil Mitra Wisata, 3T Tours Indonesia (PT Sinar Fiesta Indonesia), Expose Leisure Jakarta, St. Regis Hotel, and Sid Abadi Travelindo.
