The Travel Association's 11th annual Promote Your Professionalism (PYP) campaign kicked off on Monday (June 24) and will run through July to raise awareness about the value of travel professional education.
The campaign will provide travel agents, agency owners, suppliers and others with access to scholarship funding across its flagship three-tier certification programs, including CTA, CTC and CTIE certifications.
“For 60 years, our graduates have proven that Travel Institute certification is truly critical to their success in the industry,” says Travel Institute CTIE President Diane Petras. “Whether they complete the CTA, CTC or CTIE program, or all three at different stages in their careers, our graduates leave with both useful travel knowledge and practical business skills to help them succeed every day,” she continues.
Travel Association Scholarships
In the 10 years since its first PYP campaign, the Travel Institute has awarded scholarships to nearly 5,000 students totaling more than $1 million.
To apply for a PYP scholarship worth $299, individuals must fill out The Travel Institute’s scholarship application, available from now until the end of July, and select either the Certified Travel Associate (CTA), Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) or Certified Travel Industry Executive (CTIE) programs, which are designed for specific career stages and experience levels.
The certification curriculum is packed with real-world applications and expert tips and insights from experienced industry executives, with online peer groups and trainer-led guidance providing critical context.
The program is delivered through a best-practice interactive e-learning platform to further enhance comprehension and retention, and graduates consistently demonstrate the personal skills, expertise and business aptitude that enable greater success.
Complementing the accredited scholarships during the PYP are timely, free online presentations to further develop agents’ expertise. These include:
July 10, 3pm EDT: What to look for when working with suppliers and travel partners. Kim Specht, CTIE, Travel Career Advancement Manager, The Travel Institute. July 11, 1pm EDT: Specialization – Finding your travel industry niche. Patty Noonan, CTC, Director of Sales, The Travel Institute. July 29, 1pm EDT: Transforming Travel: How Advisors Can Create Meaningful, Sustainable Journeys. John Sutherland, Senior Director of Community Impact, Tourism Cares.
“Simply put, our mission is the success of travel industry professionals,” says Guida Botelho, CTIE, senior director of education at the Travel Institute. “Our certification program was created to elevate professionalism in the industry. We remain the education linchpin of the industry today, continuing to develop exceptional businesspeople who can provide superior service to travelers.”
