Well, it's hard to complain about this gorgeous weather outside on a Thursday! Highs in the low 80s F, comfortable dew points, and mostly sunny skies made for a beautiful day. Yesterday ended with a below average day, snapping a nearly two-week streak. Today might be cooler with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s F.
Open the windows tonight and take advantage of Mother Nature's “free air conditioning.” Temperatures will be in the upper 60s to upper 50s with comfortable humidity. Your electric bill will be low because you've been using your AC a lot the past few days. Friday will be another comfortable day, but temperatures will start to get warmer. Humidity will stay within acceptable limits, in the mid 80s. Humidity will start to increase more overnight and on Saturday.
The weekend will begin with some activity as a low pressure center deepens late Friday night. This will bring occasional showers and thunderstorms to central Indiana overnight before an additional storm arrives on Saturday. The storms will strengthen and become louder in the afternoon. The severe threat appears low, but any organized storms could bring damaging winds. Heavy rainfall is also possible, but will be localized.
No heavy rain is expected, but it's been a dry June, so any rain would be welcome. As of this writing, rainfall in Indianapolis is about 3.0 inches below average since June 1.
Once the front passes, we will see sunny skies and comfortable temperatures as northwest winds return, bringing sunny skies and highs in the low 80s Sunday and Monday, but as another upper level ridge forms by midweek, highs will again approach 90 and a storm could develop around the Fourth of July.
