A hospital in Brampton has asked patients to seek care elsewhere in response to a high volume of patients.
In a post on X, the William Osler Health System reported Saturday that the Urgent Care Centre at Peel Memorial is experiencing high patient volume, resulting in extended wait times for patients to see a physician.null
They also have advised infants aged six months and younger to visit a nearby emergency department instead.
The healthcare provider also linked a site with options for patients to determine whether urgent care or emergency is the route to go instead for illness or injury.
“Today, across William Osler Health System (Osler), as is typical during the fall flu season, patients may experience longer than usual wait times at its Emergency Departments (ED) and Urgent Care Centre (UCC). Osler health care teams continue to work hard to provide care to all patients in a timely way and Osler thanks the community for their understanding and patience,” said William Osler Health System in a statement to CityNews.
“The community is reminded to visit Osler’s website to determine if the UCC or ED is the best care option for their illness or injury and note that all children aged six months and younger, should visit the nearest ED. If you are unsure of the best care option, always visit your nearest ED or call 9-1-1.”
