Two teenagers are facing several charges after allegedly stealing a car that had a young child and baby inside.
Officers were called to the area of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West around 3:30 p.m. Thursday after getting reports of a stolen vehicle.
Police said a woman was putting groceries into her car when a 13-year-old male allegedly jumped in the running vehicle and drove away. A four-year-old child and seven-month-old baby were inside at the time.
The teen stopped and picked up a 16-year-old male a short distance away.null
Officers were able to locate the vehicle before the suspects abandoned it and tried to run away. Both suspects were found and arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Police say one of the children inside the car was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
A 13-year-old male and 16-year-old male are both facing several charges including abducting a child and possession of property obtained by crime. The 16-year-old was also charged with robbery in relation to an outstanding warrant.
