Throughout the first three seasons, Outer Banks has followed the adventures of John B. (Chase Stokes) and friends, and just when it seemed like they would suffer yet another defeat in their treasure hunt, the Season 3 finale saw the Pogues score a major victory: Not only did they finally get their hands on gold, they got it from the legendary city of El Dorado itself.
So what's next for the Pogues on their treasure hunt? During the celebration of the discovery of El Dorado, a man approached John B and his friends with only one goal: to uncover the truth hidden in the diary of Edward Teach (aka Blackbeard). However, it remains to be seen whether this old diary will be the catalyst for the Pogues' next treasure hunt in Outer Banks Season 4. After all, they suffered serious consequences: John B and Sarah (Madeline Cline) watched their father die, and the treasures, such as the Cross of Santo Domingo, were completely destroyed, especially those that were dear to Pope's (Jonathan Davis) family.
“I think there's going to be a lot of hesitation in diving back into a world where they've collectively lost so much,” Stokes told TV Guide in February 2023. “I think there's a newfound trust in one another now to make decisions collectively rather than as individuals, and that's true across the Pogues.” If John B. and his friends say yes to the guy and Blackbeard's diaries become central to Outer Banks season 4, it probably won't happen without some thorough discussion.
At Netflix's Poguelandia fan event in February 2023, the cast announced that Outer Banks had been renewed for season 4. And as of June 2024, filming for the next season has wrapped. Here's everything we know about Outer Banks season 4 so far.
