When is Life is Strange: Double Exposure release date? Max Caulfield is back. The hero of Life is Strange is back with all-new powers, new friends, and a new murder case. Max is a resident photographer at Caledon University, where she mentors young artists. So far, she appears to have moved on from the events of the first game, but in the announcement, Square Enix acknowledged that the game will also reflect on the past while welcoming new players. It is not clear to what extent previous endings will affect the game, but Nine Deck Games stressed that the endings will remain “canon” for each player.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure has been announced as a murder mystery game. When one of Max's best friends, Saffi, is murdered, Max tries to prevent her death by using her old skills of rewinding time. Instead, she opens up a parallel timeline where Saffi is alive. She can travel between the timelines to uncover who killed Saffi and why. This is a much more mature take on previous Life is Strange story games, which usually deal with complicated teenage emotions and coming-of-age stories.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure has a release date of Tuesday, October 29, 2024. The release date was announced alongside the reveal and trailer for the game.
It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Windows Store and Steam. More details on the gameplay, characters, and story were teased during a special livestream in June 2024.
Fans can pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game, which will grant them early access to the first two chapters on Tuesday, October 15th, two weeks before the full version's release date.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure Trailer
The first glimpse of Max's new story was shown in a trailer released in early June, with Caledon College surrounded by a snowy landscape and Max's voiceover saying, “I swore I'd never use my powers again.” Max has grown up and is working at the college with his best friends Saffi and Moses.
The trailer starts off rather dark, with Sapphire being murdered in the woods at night and Max finding her body. Max, who can still hear Sapphire's voice, attempts to investigate and ends up using her powers to create a parallel timeline in which Sapphire is alive. She uses her powers to travel between the two realities and try to solve the murder.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure Gameplay
The extended gameplay trailer offered a closer look at the world and characters, including some of the light-hearted scenes Life is Strange is known for. But the trailer quickly turns to an eerie scene in which Max loses consciousness, begins hallucinating, hears gunshots, and runs through a forest at night looking for his friends.
Max hasn't used her powers in a while so they're a bit rusty and whenever she tries to use them she ends up splitting into another timeline. With her new superpower to travel between timelines, she has the chance to solve Safi's murder. One of her new abilities is called Pulse and it allows her to get a glimpse of people and objects in other timelines while still in her own, meaning she can eavesdrop on conversations, follow suspects and even appear unnoticed.
Another ability she has is Shifting, which means she can physically move between timelines at certain locations called Shift Spots. This allows her to speak to suspects and even Safi, giving her information she wouldn't get in the current timeline. Nine Deck Games has stated that the timelines are distinctly different, so there shouldn't be too much confusion when moving between the two.
