It’s still unclear when The Boys season 5 will be released, but a look back at the release dates of previous seasons gives us an idea of how long we have to wait.
Seasons one and two of the show were released fairly quickly, just a year apart, but production has slowed down since then, with a roughly two-year hiatus between the release of seasons two and three, and another hiatus between seasons three and four.
The schedule seems relatively set for now, so we expect season 5 to arrive in the summer of 2026, but of course that could change, so we’ll be sure to update this page as more concrete information is announced.
Why is season 5 of The Boys the final season?

Showrunner Eric Kripke explained that ending The Boys with season 5 was the plan all along, and he just needed to convince Prime Video.
He told TVLine that Prime Video pushed back “lovingly,” adding, “It wasn’t like, ‘We have to keep this show going.’ It was more like, ‘Is season 5 really your last season? Are you sure you want to do more?’ It was a very friendly and respectful response.”
He continued, “But we were already heading in this direction. We actually knew for years that this was going to be a five-season story. I mean, we knew probably when we wrote the beginning of Season 3, so we were already on trajectory heading in this direction.”
“To be honest, they allowed us to finish it our way, and I’m really grateful for that.”
But fans needn’t worry that the world of The Boys will end completely with Season 5. With season 2 of Gen V on the way, and another spinoff set in Mexico in development, it seems likely that this world will continue to expand.
Kripke told Entertainment Weekly, “The Boys story will not continue. Hopefully, Generation V will continue, and hopefully some of the other shows that are in development will continue, but The Boys story will end with Season 5.”
