The series stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford and follows an earlier generation of Duttons, and is both a prequel to the main Yellowstone series and a sequel to the previous Yellowstone spinoff 1883.
Paramount announced production on Season 2 ahead of the Season 1 finale earlier this year, but there are some complications behind the scenes that could delay the release date.

Nothing has been confirmed about a release date for 1923 Season 2, and things aren't exactly going smoothly.
In July, KXLF reported that Season 2 of 1923 would no longer use the Butte Civic Center in Butte, Montana as a soundstage.
This was due to production delays and a Hollywood writer's and actor's strike that meant the film was not ready to begin filming in November as agreed.
“They couldn't build everything and have it ready for filming by November,” center manager Bill Melvin said. “They had lost the timing.” added.
If production resumes, the show will need to find a new soundstage.
The first part received news of renewal in February 2023.
Pre-production for Season 1 began in July 2022, with the first episode airing on Paramount Plus in December 2022.
The series has broken records since its premiere, becoming one of the most-watched series premieres on U.S. cable TV in 2022, and debuted with many positive responses.
1923 Season 2 Cast: Who's Returning?
1923 definitely took us on a roller coaster ride with the characters in this prequel series. Not only is there a spate of family drama, but there are also a lot of sudden deaths.

Ford has vowed to return for the next film, telling the Today show in February: “The idea of ​​not working doesn't make much sense to me. That's where I really feel alive.”
Mirren also told Deadline that the news of a second season was “very good news for me.”
He continued, “I'm really interested to see where Cara goes. Taylor certainly said she's true to her time and taking care of the house. That's her job. But… , he said, 'Wait, there's a lot of things that are going to happen. So let's see.'

Michelle Randolph, who plays Elizabeth “Liz” Strafford, previously teased in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she was “happy” with season 2, adding, “There's a lot of things that need to be finalized.”
